Putting out a good personal ad can be a difficult thing, but if you take a look at some of these examples, you’ll be able to put something together that will make you stand out and get noticed.
To start, let’s look at a good personal ad.
If I like you, can I keep you?
I am a secure and happy person, very happy to spend time alone, but life is meant to be lived for two!
A little bit about myself: I love travelling, camping (especially next to lakes), gardening, home decorating, going to comedy clubs (and laughing in general). I also can’t get enough of dinner theatre, music, my pets and celebrating whatever I can. My family and friends are incredibly important to me, as is a man who can make me laugh and has eyes just for me. I am self-sufficient, independent and honest and did I mention I love to laugh? (Oh yes, I did.)
No pressure on any potential suitors, let’s just take it easy and become friends. I think it’s important to get to know someone before you jump into something.
This is a great ad, not only because the headline is inviting and just begs to be clicked, but because the writer is being honest and forthcoming about her likes. Wouldn’t you like to meet someone like that?
And of course, here’s an example of a bad personal ad, so you know what not to do.
Calling all you sexxxy ladies out there
Hello all you chicks out there, if you’re into having a good time and getting down and dirty – I’m the guy you’re looking for. I’m 22 years old and I go to college, studying marketing. I’m all about sports and partying. My favourite sports are football, soccer, hockey and basketball but I also really like watching wrestling too.
One of my favourite things to do is hang out with my guy friends and have a few drinks. We’re often out playing pool, so if you need any lessons, just let me know – I’m sure we can work something out.
Please, no girls who like to eat too much (if you know what I mean), anyway, not sure what else to say, so I’ll just leave it at that.
Hit me up!
Are there any comments to be made that aren’t incredibly obvious? Terrible attitude, bad spelling in the headline – this guy sounds like a real keeper.
However you choose to write your personal ad, and it should reflect you as a person not just in the description but in the tone and attitude, make sure you try and make it as enticing as possible. You don’t want to come off like the second example.
