Relationship Advice- Saving Your Sanity

Posted & filed under Articles.

Being in any sort of a relationship can eventually take its toll on you. Even the most patient people among us can be dragged down the mundane nature of life and eventually snap. Of course, this “snap” can be blowing up at your partner and ruining a relationship on the spot. That’s why it’s important to take steps to keep your sanity when you’re in a relationship.

Priceless relationship advice

It may seem overly dramatic with the “mundane” and “snap” lines – but anyone who’s ever been in a serious relationship can attest to the prison-like environment it creates when tensions are already running high.

Being with someone you love is truly a beautiful thing. People frequent online dating sites by the millions simply looking for their little slice of love. But actually staying in a relationship can be too much at times. Familiarity will always breed contempt. There’s no way around it.

To avoid this and to give your relationship the best odds for long-term survival, you should begin to put in space creators before things get to that point.

Keeping your relationship healthy long term

What are space creators? Well, they’re exactly what they sound like. You might not need them when you first meet through online dating sites or when you first start out in a relationship, but you’re going to need them eventually and putting them in place now is a smart move.

The first thing you’ll need is a good friend(s). Having someone who relates with you without the intimacy is important to find your space. You don’t need that proverbial wild friend who acts as a bad influence, but remember not to alienate your friends when entering a relationship. Getting away from the one-on-one with your partner and hanging out with a friend is a great way to relieve stress.

Relationships need to breathe: Great advice

Find some sort of hobby that you can do alone. Of course, this will only work out well if your partner has his or her own hobby as well, but you should definitely find something that gets you out of the house at least once a week.

Try speaking less to your partner and acting more. After a while in a relationship, you’re going to know all your partner’s secrets (hopefully) and funny little stories. You’re going to know how their day at work went by looking at them. Conversation fodder is something that’s going to be in short supply, and feeling you need to talk will create frustration is there’s nothing to talk about. Activity can quell this.

If you’re lucky, most days are going to be great in a relationship. But there will always be a few where you can’t stand one another. Remember to get away on these days so those feelings don’t begin to escalate.
